Survicate vs SurveyMonkey: Customer Feedback vs Research Surveys

A survey that asks the right customer the right question at the right moment is worth more than a hundred questions sent to everyone. The real choice is not which survey tool is better, it is which kind of question you need answered.

Survicate vs SurveyMonkey looks like a simple head-to-head between two survey tools. In practice, they are built for different jobs. Survicate is a customer feedback platform: it puts short surveys inside your website, product, emails and mobile app, then pulls those answers together with support tickets, reviews and call transcripts so you can spot patterns. SurveyMonkey is a general survey and research platform: it is strongest when you need to design a longer questionnaire, send it to a list or a paid panel of respondents, and analyze the results with filters, crosstabs and statistical tests.

This guide compares the two on pricing, response limits, seats, free plans, survey channels, analysis and integrations. We reviewed both companies’ official pricing pages, product pages and help center articles. All pricing is as of October 2026 and shown in US dollars.

Quick answer

Pick Survicate if you want an always-on customer feedback loop: NPS, CSAT and quick questions triggered by what people do on your site or in your app, with AI that groups answers into themes. Pick SurveyMonkey if you run market research, customer research projects, event or employee surveys, or you need to buy responses from people who are not your customers yet.

  • Best for: Survicate suits SaaS, ecommerce and app teams collecting ongoing feedback. SurveyMonkey suits marketers, researchers, agencies and anyone running one-off or recurring research surveys.
  • Free option: Both have a free plan. Survicate’s allows up to 25 responses a month. SurveyMonkey Basic caps questions at 10 per survey and limits how many responses you can view.
  • Paid entry point: Survicate Growth starts at $56/mo billed annually (100 responses a month). SurveyMonkey Advantage Annual is $39/mo billed annually ($468/year, 15,000 responses a year).
  • Standout feature: Survicate’s in-product targeting and Research Hub. SurveyMonkey’s Audience panel of 335M+ people in 130+ countries.

The core difference: feedback loop vs research project

Before comparing feature lists, it helps to name the job you are hiring a survey tool for. Most small businesses have one of two jobs in mind.

Job 1: a continuous customer feedback loop

You already have customers or visitors. You want to know why people cancel, what is confusing on your checkout page, how satisfied people are after a support ticket, or which feature request comes up most. The ideal setup asks one to three short questions at the moment something happens, ties the answer to who the person is, and sends it to the team that can act on it.

That is Survicate’s home ground. Its surveys can be triggered by URL, visitor attributes, events, exit intent and previous responses (depending on plan), and its integrations push answers into tools like HubSpot, Intercom, Slack and Zendesk. The Research Hub then groups everything into themes.

Job 2: a research question with a beginning and an end

You want to size a market, test a product name, run a pricing survey, measure brand awareness, collect event registrations or survey employees. You need a well-designed questionnaire, a way to reach the right respondents, and analysis tools that hold up when you compare segments.

That is where SurveyMonkey shines. It offers 400+ templates, a question bank, 25+ question types, logic, crosstabs and statistical significance testing, plus Audience, which lets you buy responses from a panel when your own list is too small or does not include the people you need to hear from.

If you are still deciding whether you need a dedicated survey platform at all, our SurveyMonkey vs Google Forms comparison covers when a free form builder is enough.

Survicate overview

Survicate homepage showing its customer feedback platform headline
Survicate’s homepage positions it as a platform to capture, analyze and act on customer feedback across website, in-product, email and mobile surveys (screenshot of survicate.com).

Survicate describes itself as a customer feedback platform. Its homepage headline is “Capture, analyze, act,” and the product is organized around three ideas: collect feedback across channels, analyze it automatically, and share it with the teams that need it.

Survey channels

According to Survicate’s pricing page, every paid plan includes these distribution options:

  • Email and link surveys: share a link, or send email surveys directly from Survicate (each plan has an email sending limit tied to its response limit).
  • Website pop-ups: surveys that appear on your site based on targeting rules.
  • In-product surveys: surveys shown inside your web app.
  • Mobile app SDK: native iOS and Android SDKs, plus React Native, Flutter and Unity support.
  • Iframe embeds, kiosk mode and QR codes.
  • Intercom surveys: surveys delivered inside Intercom.

Some formats are reserved for higher tiers. The always-visible feedback button is listed from the Growth tier up, and Braze in-app surveys appear only on Pro and Enterprise.

Targeting

Targeting is the feature that makes in-product feedback useful. All plans include URL targeting, respondent identification, survey scheduling and exit intent targeting. Previous-response targeting, recurring surveys, attribute targeting and cookie targeting are listed from Growth up. Event and behavior targeting, survey sampling, response caps, JavaScript targeting and A/B testing are listed for Pro and Enterprise.

AI analysis and the Research Hub

Survicate Research Hub feature page describing an AI research repository
The Research Hub page describes an AI research repository that pulls in surveys, interview transcripts, support tickets, app reviews and files, then produces themes, reports and a chat interface (screenshot of survicate.com/features/research-hub/).

The Research Hub is Survicate’s AI research repository. Its product page says it can analyze:

  • Surveys, including NPS, CSAT, CES and custom surveys
  • Interview recordings or transcripts
  • Support tickets
  • App Store and Google Play reviews
  • Raw files such as CSVs and PDFs, plus 15+ source integrations including Zendesk, Intercom, Gong and G2

From those sources it detects emerging themes, tracks themes you define, parses sentiment, drafts an editable report with charts, and lets you ask questions in plain language with answers backed by quotes. The page stresses that each finding links back to its source, which matters if you need to show your team where a conclusion came from.

On the pricing page, the non-survey items the Research Hub analyzes are counted as “data points.” Each tier includes a monthly allowance (for example, 500 data points on the smallest published tier). AI categorization and sentiment for the dashboard are listed from Growth up, while text-question AI categorization and the Survicate MCP (for connecting AI assistants to your feedback) are listed on all paid plans.

Integrations

Survicate integrations directory filtered by integration type, team and tool category
Survicate’s integrations directory lets you filter by native, Zapier or custom integrations, by team, and by category such as CRM, marketing automation and customer support (screenshot of survicate.com/integrations/).

Survicate’s integrations are designed to move feedback into action. Examples on its integrations page include creating Linear tickets from feedback, Slack alerts for new responses, creating or updating Zendesk tickets, triggering HubSpot workflows and updating Klaviyo contacts. The homepage lists native integrations with tools such as ActiveCampaign, Amplitude, Google Analytics, Google Sheets, HubSpot, Intercom, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Mixpanel, Salesforce, Segment, Slack, Zapier and Zendesk. Starter and Growth include 25+ integrations, while Pro and Enterprise unlock 40+, including enterprise CRMs, data warehouses and session replay tools.

How to launch a website or in-product survey in Survicate

Survicate’s help center describes the process like this:

  1. Click “+ Create new survey” and choose “Website or in-product.”
  2. Start from scratch, a template, AI or imported questions, then add questions by type.
  3. Set up skip logic between questions and add a thank you screen.
  4. Preview the survey on desktop and mobile.
  5. In the Format tab, choose a pop-up, a feedback button or a Braze in-app message.
  6. Design the widget and set targeting: visitor attributes, devices, visit frequency, specific pages or JavaScript events.
  7. Install the tracking code on your site and launch the survey.

The help center notes that changes can take up to 15 minutes to appear, and that website surveys are shown only once per visitor by default, so testing in an incognito window is recommended. You can follow the full guide in Survicate’s help center.

SurveyMonkey overview

SurveyMonkey is one of the best-known general survey platforms. Its features page groups capabilities into AI, creation and customization, collecting responses, collaboration, analytics and reporting, privacy and security, and integrations. Unlike Survicate, it is not built around a tracking script on your site. Most surveys are distributed by link, email, embed or QR code.

Survey builder

The builder includes 400+ templates, a question bank, 25+ question types, skip logic, custom branding, payment questions and multilingual surveys (multilingual is on Premier and Team Premier). Its AI survey generator lets you describe a topic and get a drafted survey, paste an existing draft from Word or Google Docs to convert it, upload a logo to generate a matching theme, and run a pre-launch check that flags structural problems and possible bias and estimates completion rate and time.

Audience: buying responses from a panel

SurveyMonkey Audience panel page for online market research
SurveyMonkey Audience is presented as an integrated panel of 335M+ people in more than 130 countries, with 200+ targeting options and pricing starting at $1 per response (screenshot of surveymonkey.com/product/features/audience-panel/).

Audience is the clearest reason to choose SurveyMonkey for research. The product page cites a panel of more than 335 million people in over 130 countries, more than 200 targeting options, census balancing and custom screening questions. Pricing is pay per response, starting at $1 per response.

SurveyMonkey’s help center explains how ordering works:

  1. Create your survey, open the Publish survey section and choose Buy responses.
  2. Select your audience by country, gender, age and income, with more targeting options available.
  3. Choose how many complete responses you need.
  4. Optionally add custom screening questions, a scheduled launch or exclusions.
  5. Review the estimate, and broaden targeting if there are not enough panelists.
  6. Check out with a card or Audience credits.

The cost per response rises with survey length, less common targeting, custom balancing and lower qualification rates. Audience orders are one-time purchases, and the help center says you can buy them even on the free Basic plan, which gives you premium features on surveys launched with Audience. It is not available in certain billing countries or if your data is stored in SurveyMonkey’s European data center. Details are in the SurveyMonkey Audience help article.

Survicate has no equivalent panel. It surveys the people already using your website, product or email list.

Analysis

SurveyMonkey AI survey analysis feature page
SurveyMonkey’s AI survey analysis page describes asking questions about your results, filtering low-quality responses, and thematic and sentiment analysis of open-text answers (screenshot of surveymonkey.com/product/features/ai-survey-analysis/).

SurveyMonkey’s analysis tools cover the classic research toolkit: custom reports and charts, filtering, response tagging, word clouds, crosstabs, statistical significance testing, benchmarks and exports to CSV, XLS, PDF and SPSS. On the AI side, its analysis page describes typing questions about your data to get answers, charts and summaries, flagging low-quality or duplicate responses such as speeders, grouping open-text answers into themes and classifying sentiment.

Plan matters here. Text analysis is listed from Standard up, sentiment analysis and SPSS export from Advantage up, and crosstabs on Premier, Team Premier and Enterprise.

Integrations

SurveyMonkey cites 200+ data and API integrations, highlighting Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier, Salesforce, Power BI and Zoom (Zoom is listed as an Enterprise feature on the team pricing page). The Audience page also mentions connecting results to SPSS, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.

Pricing compared (as of October 2026)

Pricing is the area where the two tools differ most in structure. Survicate prices by monthly response volume and data points, with seats included. SurveyMonkey prices per user, with an annual or monthly response allowance per plan.

Survicate pricing

Survicate pricing page showing Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans
Survicate’s pricing page shows Growth from $114/mo billed annually at 250 responses a month, Pro from $349/mo and Enterprise from $569/mo, plus a 10-day all-features trial with no card required (screenshot of survicate.com/pricing/).
  • Free plan: $0. Up to 25 responses a month, 1 active survey at a time, basic CRM integrations, up to 3 team members and 30-day data retention, according to the pricing FAQ.
  • Free trial: 10 days with Pro-level features, no card required, up to 25 survey responses and 100 Research Hub data points.
  • Starter (monthly commitment): $89/mo for 100 responses and 500 data points, $179/mo for 250 responses and 1,000 data points, or $279/mo for 500 responses and 1,500 data points. Overage is $0.89, $0.59 or $0.39 per extra response respectively. Starter lists 5 user seats, 2 active surveys and 6-month data retention.
  • Growth (billed annually): from $56/mo for 100 responses and 500 data points, $114/mo for 250 and 1,000, $169/mo for 500 and 1,500, $229/mo for 1,000 and 2,000, and $289/mo for 1,500 and 2,500. Higher volumes are quoted. The Growth plan card lists unlimited multichannel surveys, 10 user seats, 2 teams, multilingual surveys, custom branding and 1 dashboard.
  • Pro: from $349/mo, billed monthly or annually, with a custom yearly response pool, advanced logic, custom CSS, 10 dashboards and 40+ integrations.
  • Enterprise: from $569/mo, with SAML SSO, access logs, HIPAA and DORA coverage, custom legal terms and a dedicated success manager.

One caution: the plan comparison table on Survicate’s pricing page does not line up neatly with the plan cards, so check seat counts and limits for your exact tier at signup. Also note that Survicate counts one response per respondent, even if they answer several questions, and partial responses count too.

SurveyMonkey pricing

SurveyMonkey individual plans pricing page
SurveyMonkey’s individual pricing page lists Standard Monthly, Advantage Annual and Premier Annual alongside the free Basic plan, with response limits for each paid plan (screenshot of surveymonkey.com/pricing/individual/).
  • Basic (free): 1 user, unlimited surveys, 10 questions per survey. The number of responses you can view per survey is limited, and SurveyMonkey shows the exact figure after you sign up (its published plan reference lists 10).
  • Standard Monthly: $149/mo, 1 user, 1,000 responses a month, custom design, skip logic, email invitations and data exports.
  • Advantage Annual: $39/mo, billed $468 a year, 1 user, 15,000 responses a year, AI and thematic analysis, statistical significance and payments.
  • Premier Annual: $139/mo, billed $1,668 a year, 1 user, 40,000 responses a year, white label branding, advanced logic, block randomization, multilingual surveys, crosstabs and phone support.
  • Team Advantage: $30 per user per month, billed annually, minimum 3 users, 50,000 responses a year.
  • Team Premier: $92 per user per month, billed annually, minimum 3 users, 100,000 responses a year.
  • Enterprise: custom quote, 5+ users, adds SSO, governance controls, data center choice (US, Canada, EU) and more.

Extra responses beyond your plan limit cost $0.15 each, and Audience responses are billed separately. SurveyMonkey’s plan reference also lists a lower-cost Standard Annual plan ($300 a year) in the US, UK and Australia, which is not available to accounts that previously churned from Basic. Team plans let you assign Full Access or Analyst seats, and inviting more people than you have paid seats triggers a prorated charge.

What the pricing means in practice

  • Low-volume feedback: if you only need a few hundred responses a month from your own users, Survicate’s Growth tiers are priced around that use case and include several seats.
  • High-volume surveys: SurveyMonkey’s annual plans include thousands of responses a year for one user, and overage is cheaper per response. If you send large email surveys a few times a year, that can work out better.
  • Teams: SurveyMonkey team pricing scales per seat with a 3-user minimum, while Survicate includes seats in each tier. Count how many people actually need to build surveys, not just view results.
  • Research respondents: if you need people outside your customer base, budget for SurveyMonkey Audience on top of any plan.

Who should pick Survicate

  • SaaS and app teams who want NPS, onboarding feedback and feature requests collected inside the product and tied to user attributes.
  • Ecommerce stores that want exit-intent or post-purchase questions on their site, with answers flowing into Klaviyo, HubSpot or Slack.
  • Customer success and support teams who want survey answers analyzed alongside tickets, reviews and call transcripts in one place.
  • Small teams that want several seats included without paying per user.

If that sounds like your setup, the 10-day Survicate free trial gives you Pro-level features without a card, which is enough to install the tracking code and run a first in-product survey.

Who should pick SurveyMonkey

  • Marketers and founders doing market research who need to reach respondents they do not have yet, through Audience.
  • Agencies and consultants running client surveys that need templates, branding, crosstabs and exports to SPSS or BI tools.
  • HR and operations teams running employee, event or registration surveys.
  • Anyone sending longer questionnaires by email or link, where in-product targeting is not needed.

You can start on the free Basic plan and upgrade once you hit the 10-question limit or need to see all your responses: create a free SurveyMonkey account.

Can you use both?

Yes, and for some businesses it is the most sensible setup, because the tools answer different questions. A common split looks like this:

  • Survicate for the always-on loop: NPS after 30 days, CSAT after support, a one-question churn survey on the cancel page, and a feedback button in the app. The Research Hub groups this ongoing stream into themes.
  • SurveyMonkey for discrete projects: a pricing study before a launch, a brand awareness survey of non-customers via Audience, or an annual customer research questionnaire with crosstabs.

The two feed each other. Themes that keep appearing in Survicate tell you what to research properly. A SurveyMonkey study can then test whether a theme matters to your wider market, not just to your most vocal users.

The risk is paying for two tools and acting on neither. Keep one place where findings turn into decisions. Many small teams log themes, research results and the actions they triggered in a shared workspace; if you already work in Notion, our Company OS 2.0 Notion template gives you department pages and project tracking where feedback themes can become tasks. You can track this in Notion on its free plan.

Limitations to know before you choose

Survicate

  • No respondent panel, so it cannot help you reach people outside your audience.
  • Monthly response limits are modest on lower tiers, and Starter charges overage per response.
  • Many targeting, logic and analytics features (event targeting, A/B testing, advanced logic, custom CSS) sit on Pro and above, which starts at $349/mo.
  • Website and in-product surveys need a tracking code or SDK installed.

SurveyMonkey

  • Not built for behavior-triggered surveys inside your product.
  • Individual plans are single-user, and team plans require at least 3 paid seats.
  • Key analysis features like crosstabs and multilingual surveys are on Premier tiers.
  • The free plan’s 10-question cap and limited response viewing make it hard to use for real research.
  • Audience costs are separate and vary with targeting and survey length.

Verdict: Survicate vs SurveyMonkey

Choose Survicate if your main goal is to hear from existing customers continuously, at the right moment, and to turn that stream into themes your product, marketing and support teams act on. Its in-product targeting, multichannel delivery and Research Hub are built for exactly that.

Choose SurveyMonkey if your main goal is research: designing solid questionnaires, reaching specific audiences, including through a paid panel, and analyzing results with crosstabs and significance tests.

If you need both, use both, with a clear line between the feedback loop and the research projects. Start with the free plan of whichever tool matches your most pressing question.

FAQ

Is Survicate cheaper than SurveyMonkey?

It depends on volume and team size. Survicate’s Growth plan starts at $56/mo billed annually for 100 responses a month with seats included. SurveyMonkey Advantage Annual is $39/mo billed annually for one user with 15,000 responses a year. For one person sending large surveys, SurveyMonkey is usually cheaper per response. For a small team collecting ongoing in-product feedback, Survicate’s included seats can balance that out.

Does Survicate have a free plan?

Yes. As of October 2026, Survicate’s pricing FAQ describes a free plan with up to 25 responses a month, one active survey at a time, basic CRM integrations, up to 3 team members and 30-day data retention. There is also a separate 10-day trial with Pro-level features and no card required.

Can Survicate buy survey responses like SurveyMonkey Audience?

No. Survicate surveys your own website visitors, product users, app users and email contacts. If you need responses from a targeted group of people who are not your customers, SurveyMonkey Audience is the option, starting at $1 per response.

Can SurveyMonkey run surveys inside my app or website?

SurveyMonkey supports website embeds, web links, email invitations, QR codes and social sharing, with SMS and offline mode on Enterprise. It does not market behavior-based in-product targeting the way Survicate does, so for surveys triggered by events or user attributes inside your product, Survicate is the better fit.

Which tool has better AI analysis?

Both offer theme and sentiment analysis. SurveyMonkey’s AI focuses on survey results, letting you ask questions of your data and flag low-quality responses. Survicate’s Research Hub goes wider, combining surveys with support tickets, app reviews, interview transcripts and files, and producing reports with links back to source quotes. Which is better depends on whether your feedback lives only in surveys or across many channels.

Should a small business use both tools?

Only if you have both jobs: an ongoing customer feedback loop and separate research projects. Many small businesses can start with one, then add the other when the need is clear. If you do use both, keep findings in one shared place so insights turn into decisions.
